Unconventional thinking, unleashed

The most successful organisations defy convention at every opportunity. They understand the value of unconventional ideas and creative problem solving. Doing more with less. The problem is that many are risk averse, making the prospect of rapid prototyping and failing to succeed too daunting to take on; even if this approach usually achieves workable solutions that excite customers, is faster to develop and cheaper in the long run.

The creative spirit usually found in startups is far less common in larger organisations.  Where it does exist, truly unconventional ideas often remain on the cutting room floor.  Why? There can be many causes…death by starvation (no resources), death by asphyxiation (no breathing space), death by a thousand cuts (too many critics before the idea is developed into something tangible) or death by mis-adventure (killed by the boss’ pet project).
